The newly extended 1875 Sports Centre features a refurbished and enhanced Sports Hall alongside a series of upgrades to improve circulation, accessibility, and sports provision across the site.
The 30m x 20m Sports Hall provides a flexible multi-use space with court markings for badminton (4 courts), basketball, football, hockey, volleyball and netball. The hall also incorporates four indoor cricket nets, including a specialist black-and-white net to improve ball visibility. Lighting within the space can be adjusted across three settings, with a maximum output of 1300 lux to support varied training needs.
The project also delivers a new entrance, lobby and PE office to the front of the building, creating an improved arrival point and forming a sheltered courtyard behind. A new movement studio opens directly onto this courtyard, while glazed screens have been introduced to enhance visibility throughout the building. Access to the changing rooms has been further improved with the installation of an additional staircase to the front.
Completed for Nottingham Girls’ High School, the refurbished and extended sports centre provides a modern, high-quality environment that supports both curriculum and extracurricular activities.
