Topping out ceremony at YMCA Newark and Sherwood

On the 18th of November 2021 we officially marked a key construction milestone with a Topping Out Ceremony at the YMCA Community & Activity Village. The milestone was celebrated  in a traditional way, by pouring beer over a yew tree branch at the building’s highest point.

The final project is due to complete in Spring 2022 and will include indoor facilities such as a community café, climbing wall, arts and dance area, music area, nursery, creche, and before and after-school provision.

In addition to the creation of a cycling track, the community will benefit from multi-use all-weather sports pitches, five-a-side pitches, a skate park, a stadium football pitch and a six-lane full-size athletics track endorsed by England Athletics.
